FORTUNATELY THERE THE LITERATURE

In countries that have completed their industrial revolution, it is said, the philosophy that determines the forms of liberty and of power, it is what defines and limits their territories. In countries whose agricultural structures remain, it is, we are assured, the religion that would legitimize the Authority and the License. In industrial countries, all power comes from Reason. In pre-industrial countries, while still able to come from God: it is the myth that frames the speeches and the decisions of Haitians, not reason, left in the anteroom of the court of the need, it's him, the myth, which would order the contours of our history. The myth is the grammar of our convulsions, of our history.

There Is fortunately literature

In the Countries That Have Accomplished their industrial revolution, it is, one says, the philosophy That RESOLVED on the forms of freedom and of power, it is her limits and demarcates That Their territories. In the Countries Whose structures REMAIN agricultural, it is, one insured, the religion That Would legitimize the Authority and the license. In the Industrial Countries, all the Power Comes From The Reason. In the pre-industrial Countries, all the power come from God Would still: That Would Be That the myth surrounds the Haitians: speeches and decisions and not Reason, left in the waiting room of the court of Necessity, it is HIM, the myth , That Would align the contours of our history. The myth Would Be the grammar of our convulsions, of our history.
It is precisely this history that is questioned these days. It does not even recognize Haiti to the right to tell a nation. Our real would not even be composed of those famous "solidarity contrasts", and unity of Haiti would be a "synthesis unstable."
This may seem true especially as hypertrophy, these days, Haiti, politics invades all, occupying every corner of our different movements, our every chills, which prevents them from thinking about anything other, which prohibits enjoy the caress of the wind on our face or that of the waves coming on the beach licking our feet, hidden all areas of our truth. It makes us one-dimensional beings. It takes away the right to quiet nights and dreamy, until ambition towards which all human activity, that of not having any activity. There are so many in Haiti versions of reality that no one knows the signs. No one knows to interpret them. This hypertrophy of the policy prevents us from seeing that there are times when, in the name of politics, we must stop playing politics.
It is, PRECISELY, this history That Is Questioned These Days. One Does not Even Recognize Haiti to the right to call a nation soi. Our reality Would Not Even Be Composed of These famous "interdependent contrasts", and the Haitian unity Would Be Nothing More Than an "unstable synthesis".
This Could APPEAR true: as much as the hypertrophy, These Days, in Haiti, That of politics invades all, that 'occupies all the nooks of our different pathos of our merest Shivers, that' Prevents from thinking about anything else, that 'banns from savoring the caress of the wind on our face or the one of the waves coming on the seashore to lick our feet, obscure all the domains of our belief. She Makes of Us, unidimensional beings. She subtracts us to the right of calm and dreamy nights, until, the ambition to Which Any Human activity-that tend not HAVING Any of activity. There are in Haiti So Many versions of the reality That One no longer knows how to Recognize the signs. One no longer knows how to interpret 'em.This hypertrophy of politics Prevents us from seeing That it exists at times where, Even In the name of politics, one HAS to stop doing politics.
Admittedly, in Haiti, the history - apart from "the gesture of Thousand eight hundred and four" - economic, social, failed. If we had to rely on them to make a name, we would have remained anonymous.
Where the history, economic and social failed, Art was successful. It is Art that will present our credentials to the society of nations, it is he who allows us to print our glyphs on time. And it is he who gives hospitality to modernity. Art is the clothing in Haiti is going to be in the world. It is silk that emphasizes the presence and the shimmer of being Haitian. So poor he may be so poor that the "others" think it is.
And art is not that the dance of logic: facing the real distress of our poor, painting, music, literature it to its consistency. They conspire in the sense of our history. They structure the real and, hence, our imagination. The painter, novelist, poet - even and especially, the storyteller and the samba anonymous and illiterate peasant night vigils - we tell stories, stories that read the world, who say the world, and without the stories, we would like a computer without software: an empty hardware store.
Stories allow us to function, they recreate a world where consistency is more visible than in the "real" world, not a fragment of the world, but a complete world, one in whom all its ramifications, a world that completed decodes the law that our mind, with the stories, will be introducing.
We can see that art is not a plaything in the hands of Power, and the artists that are not entertainers, although they entertain, they are the ones that deliver us our identity card, that forge this identity. And, this is art that takes away from our shoulders the yoke of horrible anguish. Let us remember them fondly, with gratitude. Especially now. Especially these days.
It Should Be Acknowledged That, in Haiti, history - apart from "the gesture of eighteen Hundred and four" - the economy, the social, Have failed. If We had to count on em to make a name, WE WOULD Have stayed anonymous.
Where history, the economy and the social Have failed, succeeded Art. It is the Art That our present letters of credit to the society of nations, it is HIM That allows us to print our glyphs over time. And it is HIM That Gives hospitality to modernism. That is the art garment wears the Being in Haiti to go out in the world. It is the tang That emphasizes the presence and the shimmer of the Haitian Being.Have poor ET Cdn be, That the poor have "others" think he is.
And Art is not only the dance of logic: faced with the distress of our poor reality, painting, music, and literature coherence icts return to Him. THEY conspires To The Meaning Of our history. THEY structure and the reality, of course our imaginary. The painter, the novelist, the poet-even, and Especially, the storyteller and the anonymous samba and the illiterates from the Peasants evenings-us recount stories, read stories That the world, that 'tell the world, and without the stories, WE WOULD be like a computer without software: an empty hardware store.
The stories allow us to function, They recreate a world Where Consistency is more visible Than in the "real" world, no not a fragment of the World, a full world view, HAVING HIM in all icts ins and outs, a world That Accomplished decoded the law of our spirit, thanks to the stories, tend to Introduce there.
One Sees it: the art is not a rattle in the hands of power, and the artists are not only public entertainers, although THEY entertain, It Is Them That 'deliver us our identity card That forge this identity. And, it is the art from our Shoulders That Removes the horrible burden of anguish. Let's remember 'em with emotion and gratitude. Especially now, Especially These Days.
The CIDIHCA shot, his library, pictures of a few Haitian writers: they are as important as those who founded and led this country. Space does not show them all. Maybe he will come back?
CIDIHCA Took, from icts library, pictures of a couple of Haitian writers: They are as large as Those Who Have Founded and directed this country. Space is missing to show them all. Perhaps Would It Be Necessary to come back to it?
Roland Paret
